Grace will be performing in
a play, Iphigenia and Other Daughters, at the Chamber Theatre in
Capitol Hill. Michael wrote the music for this production. The play was
written by Ellen McLaughlin and is based on the combined writings of Euripedes
and Sophocles, except here the entire play is told from the women's perspective
as they grapple with the courage and rage they feel at playing witness,
perpetrator and victim to futile war both inside and outside the home. With a
language that is hypnotically beautiful - full of brilliant imagery and
immediacy, McLaughlin places us in the eye of the beholder - experiencing their
history and making it our own. Through every character in this play, she
tries "to make sense of it," as we all do - tries to understand and answer the
unanswerable, "Why?"
Where: The Chamber Theatre (Capitol Hill) 915 E. Pine Street - Room 419 (fourth
floor) This building also houses Century Ballroom.
